Our Mission

—James 1:27
  • Provide food, safe housing, and education to orphans and children in need
  • Provide vocational training to widows and single mothers so they can provide for their families while still caring for their children
  • Spread the gospel, disciple believers, and partner with local churches in our communities to make an eternal impact for His kingdom

Since 2012, we have been carrying out our mission by working to rescue, feed, and equip orphans and widows in Paraguay, Peru, and Argentina.

Our Vision

That every orphan and widow in South America would say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

—Psalm 91:2
  • Children living in abusive conditions find a place of refuge
  • Children’s empty stomachs will be filled with nourishing food
  • Children’s minds will be filled with high quality, Christ-centered education
  • Hearts of children will experience love and belonging
  • Vulnerable women will learn vocational skills to economically provide for their families
  • Orphans and widows will know the Word of God and trust Him

Our Story

God’s plan was first revealed to a Paraguayan couple when they saw the great need of the troubled and homeless children in their hometown of Tobatí, Paraguay. These children did not have a stable home environment, often went without daily food, and were in need of medical care. As medical practitioners, this couple opened their hearts and small home to these children. Their house soon became insufficient to care for all the children.

In 2007, God further revealed His plan by leading Scott Kvandal and a team of international ambassadors from Paraguay, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States to develop Su Refugio in Tobatí, Paraguay. As the ministry took shape in Paraguay, God continued to reveal more of His vision for Su Refugio—not only in Paraguay, but also in Argentina and Peru.

As God has multiplied and expanded His ministry over the years, He has transformed our mission from purely providing refuge to becoming a beacon of hope throughout each community. God’s heart and plan for orphan and widow care is far beyond our human capacity, but we are excited to be a part of His story as it unfolds.
