“Caring for orphans and widows in their distress” for the glory of God.
Since 2012, we have been carrying out our mission by working to rescue, feed, and equip orphans and widows in Paraguay, Peru, and Argentina.
That every orphan and widow in South America would say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
God’s plan was first revealed to a Paraguayan couple when they saw the great need of the troubled and homeless children in their hometown of Tobatí, Paraguay. These children did not have a stable home environment, often went without daily food, and were in need of medical care. As medical practitioners, this couple opened their hearts and small home to these children. Their house soon became insufficient to care for all the children.
In 2007, God further revealed His plan by leading Scott Kvandal and a team of international ambassadors from Paraguay, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States to develop Su Refugio in Tobatí, Paraguay. As the ministry took shape in Paraguay, God continued to reveal more of His vision for Su Refugio—not only in Paraguay, but also in Argentina and Peru.
As God has multiplied and expanded His ministry over the years, He has transformed our mission from purely providing refuge to becoming a beacon of hope throughout each community. God’s heart and plan for orphan and widow care is far beyond our human capacity, but we are excited to be a part of His story as it unfolds.
In The Least of These, Scott Kvandal shares the story of God’s transformative work in his life through the founding of Su Refugio Ministries.
